Made in Queensland
What’s new
June 2024: Made in Queensland Round 6 has been awarded. A new round of Made in Queensland will be released and this page will be updated with details when available.
Made in Queensland (MIQ) is a $121.5 million Queensland Government program helping small and medium sized manufacturers to increase international competitiveness, productivity and innovation, and to generate high-skilled jobs for the future. MIQ supports traditional manufacturers to adopt industry leading equipment, technologies, systems and processes.
Since 2017, MIQ has supported 164 advanced manufacturing projects across the state. These projects have already created and supported more than 6,500 jobs with $261 million in total project cost.
Of the projects funded through MIQ, over 45% are being delivered in regional Queensland, and are expected to create and support more than 5,500 jobs over 5 years.
The MIQ program is part of the Queensland Advanced Manufacturing 10-Year Roadmap and Action Plan to support our manufacturers.
Made in Queensland Round 6
Round 6 of Made in Queensland closed for applications at 9am AEST on 11 December 2023 and was awarded in June 2024.
Queensland-based manufacturers looking to adopt industry leading equipment, technologies, systems and processes that include energy efficiency, export, reshoring, supply chain improvements, sustainability and/or advancement of decarbonisation and net zero outcomes were encouraged to apply for matched funding grants of $50,000 to $2.5 million.
Successful MIQ applicants are required to execute a funding agreement with the Queensland Government. An example funding agreement is provided below for information purposes.
Under this agreement, the Queensland Government may take security over any or all of the funded items. This may involve, for example, security being registered on the Personal Property Securities Register or a deed of priority with other financiers of the project. Applicants should confirm their financier is satisfied with these arrangements before applying.

Success stories
Bridging the gap to global business
Founded in 2002, Wagners Composite Fiber Technologies (CFT) manufactures a composite fiber material for use in the civil engineering construction industry. As a newly floated public company, Wagners CFT sought to expand and increase demand for custom built product by exploring infrastructure markets in both the United Kingdom and the United States.
From small beginnings, Wagners CFT’s growth went into high gear in 2018 when – with the support from Made in Queensland – they were able to grow from supplying Australia to supplying the world. With 100 staff, Wagners CFT is a sophisticated world leader in fibre composite design and development and with future growth, the company expects to create more than 50 new jobs over five years, and enhance productivity, profitability and its competitive potential.
Packer Leather
Packer Leather Pty Ltd is a fifth-generation family business based in Narangba. Established in 1891, the company is internationally-recognised as a leading supplier of custom-made performance leather and was named Queensland’s Exporter of the Year in 2015. Through the company’s research and delivery capabilities, their leather products can be customised by colour, finish and technical attributes, tailored to suit specialised applications. Exporting over 250,000 square metres of performance leather annually, they supply a large range of global brands.
Packer Leather was awarded a Made In Queensland grant to install an advanced manufacturing system, automated batching system and a rapid pattern press to reduce production and prototyping lead times whilst maintaining product quality. The Queensland Government grant has enabled the company to invest in the latest manufacturing equipment technology to support their export growth, improve energy efficiencies, train and retain highly-skilled staff and importantly, maintaining exceptional product quality.
Urban Turf Solutions
Based on the Gold Coast, Urban Turf Solutions is Queensland’s only synthetic grass manufacturer, and the only privately-owned producer in Australia. Specialising in research, design and manufacture of more than 40 varieties of high quality, synthetic turf, their product has an extensive range of applications, from sporting fields, backyards to playgrounds.
With their awarded Queensland Government Made in Queensland grant, the company expanded their capability, installing a tufting machine to increase speed, capacity, relatability and product consistency, while concurrently reducing waste and operational downtime. Their new equipment and integrated software significantly expanded Urban Turf Solutions’ production capacity and facilitated the growth of their workforce to meet increased demand for their niche turf products.
